Talent, Speed, Character

Over his three years as a top Badger cornerback, Rachad Wildgoose helped earn the nickname, “Goose Egg Gang” for the Badger defense by keeping 0’s (goose eggs) on opponents’ scoreboards. The starting cornerback and nickelback cemented the defense’s title during his Sophomore season, snagging an interception in the red zone to seal the shutout against Michigan State on homecoming weekend. When Wildgoose declared for the NFL draft during his Junior year, the Wisconsin State Journal’s Colten Bartholomew described him as “the team’s top cornerback and its most versatile.”The Miami, Florida, native born and raised in Overtown, earned an All-Dade honorable mention and helped lead his team to the Florida Class 6A state championship title during his senior season at Miami Northwestern High School.

But since those days, Wildgoose said he feels “like a whole different person.”On the field I’m more mature; off the field I’m more mature. But I’m still the same old Goose.”

Wildgoose describes himself as a funny guy that can bring people together and make others feel included. But on the field?“A beast.”Rachad Wildgoose knows that making it at the next level means sacrificing and working hard, but also “being a good overall guy”. When asked what a young Wildgoose would think if he could see present-day Rachad (on his way to the NFL combine), he said, “Everyone told him that he couldn’t do it. Every single year of elementary school, middle school – teachers ask what you want to be when you grow up, and everybody thought (playing in the NFL) was impossible. So he would be excited and very, very happy.”
